下手とは何か。
\n客観的に下手というのはすぐわかる。身も蓋も無いが下手は下手である。
\nほとんどの人は当たり前に下手なのだ。
\nで、問題は自分の下手とどう向き合うかだ。私は自分の下手から逃げてピアノを辞めた。
\nもったいないことだったと今はわかる。
\nでも当時クラシックが好きでもなかった。
\nだから何かを続けられるのは上手い下手より好き嫌いなのだと思う。<\/p>\n

「マダムフローレンス」という映画がある。メリル・ストリープ演じる社交界に君臨しているマダムの望みはソプラノ歌手である。音はバンバン外れてとても下手だが本人にはわからない。カーネギーホールで歌うこととなり、その陰で夫が批評家を買収し、好意的な観客のみ動員するなど献身的にお膳立てをする。もちろん成功した公演とはならないのだが、時を経てホールの売店で一番売れるのは彼女のレコードだ、というところで終わる。<\/p>\n

マダムは自分の下手さがわからない。でも歌の素晴らしさにとことん魅了されている。その歌への溢れんばかりの情熱が聞いている人をも引き寄せてしまうというこのなのだろうか。<\/p>\n

「自分に才能がないということがわかって、それでも続けられるのが才能である。」
